Al Shifa College of Arts and Science (ACAS) is a college affiliated to the University of Calicut, Kerala, offering undergraduate programmes with a curriculum that emphasizes applied learning and skill integration. The college was established in 2020 with a vision and performance parameters to excel regionally and nationally within a decade. Operating in full compliance with the national accreditation guidelines and an international outlook, ACAS has developed and implemented a suite of quality strategies that will drive student learning experiences and academic aspirations, making them seamlessly integrate into their post-campus lives and careers. We work towards bringing out students who are informed and capable.

ACAS has been guiding this vision and implementing strategies that not only meet national accreditation standards but also encourage the ACAS community to adopt and contribute to emerging global best practices. The Star of the Month award, starting in 2024–2025, will honor students who excel across multiple areas: academic, non-academic, co-curricular, extension, outreach, and entrepreneurial activities.

Selection Criteria

• Academic Excellence: Consistent effort and dedication in studies. Improvement in academic performance, regardless of grades. Active participation in class discussions and academic activities.
• Leadership and Initiative: Takes the lead in organizing school or class events, projects, or activities. Demonstrates the ability to motivate and encourage others. Proactively offers help to peers, teachers, or the community.
• Community Involvement and Social Responsibility: Participates in community service or volunteering activities. Shows responsibility towards environmental initiatives or social causes. Actively contributes to creating a positive and inclusive school environment.
• Empathy and Kindness: Shows kindness towards classmates, teachers, and school staff. Supports peers and society who are struggling emotionally, socially, or academically. Participates in acts of kindness, both inside and outside the classroom.
• Extra-Curricular Participation and Achievement: Involvement in sports, arts, music, or other hobbies and interests. Represents the school in competitions, clubs, or events. Demonstrates commitment and enthusiasm in pursuing personal interests.
• Personal Growth and Self-Discipline: Exhibits improvement in behavior, time management, or study habits. Takes responsibility for personal actions and decisions. Sets personal goals and works consistently to achieve them.
• Attendance and Punctuality: Regular and timely attendance at school. Shows responsibility towards maintaining a good attendance record.

Selection Process

• Each department head can nominate one student per stream for the award, based on their performance and achievements in the academic year 2024-25
• Nominees are required to submit verifiable proofs of any awards and recognitions they have received during the academic year. Nominations submitted without these supporting documents will not be considered.
• All nominations must be submitted online on or before the 25th of every month.
• The selection committee will convene on the 25th of each month to review the submitted nominations and make the final selection.
